1. How are optical dichroic filters different from regular colored glass filters?
A:
1). Colored glass absorbs the "wrong" colors and turns them into heat; that heat can crack or melt the filter in high-power systems.
2). A dichroic coating reflects the unwanted wavelengths instead, so the substrate stays cool.
3). Edge is 5× sharper (<5 nm vs. >20 nm), which gives you cleaner channel separation in multi-band instruments.

2. Can I use them at angles other than 0°?
A:
1). Yes. Standard parts are optimized for 0°, but we routinely supply 30°, 45° and 60° versions.
2). Expect a +5–10 nm blue-shift for s-polarized light and a slightly smaller red-shift for p-polarized light at 45°; we pre-compensate the coating design so the specified edge lands on the wavelength you need.
3. What laser power can they survive?
